Welcome to the Amateur Radio Community Service (ARCS) Radio Club Web Site. ARCS was formed in February 2006 as an all volunteer non-profit amateur radio club whose purpose is to promote the amateur radio art, provide fellowship to newly licensed operators as well as veteran operators, and to provide emergency communications to emergency services and community organizations. The club is located in Paintsville, KY.
In March 2006, the club was granted the call sign of KI4OIP by the FCC, to be used during the clubs communications events, such as field days and other activities. The club became an ARRL affiliated club in June of the same year.
Durring the first year of existance the club participated a Kids Day, Field Day, and has recieved training is several areas of emergency preparedness, including Skywarn, which is a storm spotter program sponsored by the National Weather Service
Also the club has sponsored a licensing class and exam session to attract new members to the hobby. As a result of the classes and the exam session the club has now 10 newly licensed ham radio operators. The club plans on having additional licensing classes and exam sessions at least bi-annually each year to further promote the radio art. In addition the club is having programs at the montly meeting to further enhance ones knowlege of amateur radio and electronics.
